I thought that this coat was absolutely perfect for the holidays. It’s been very cold in California recently, warmer than most other places in the world right now but still very cold for us. I ordered this red coat about a month ago, but it came just in time for the temperature drop. I realize that Christmas has passed, however the Russian culture celebrates New Years instead of Christmas so my holiday is still a week away. Our New Years is basically the same as catholic Christmas; Santa Claus, presents, family, food, movies, and traditions, all of those are part of our Russian New Years. I’m not so sure what the difference in religions are, I think our calendars are just different and we celebrate Christmas on January 7th (but we don’t really celebrate it, we just go to church). Anyways for those of you who did celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas to you, and the rest of you happy holidays, hope your break from work/school is going great.
I bought this little black Topshop dress a couple of weeks ago and I’m absolutely in love with it. I love sparkly sequin things but if they’re not well made they could look very cheap. I ordered this dress online and was not expecting this gorgeous thing to come to my door. I’m obsessed with the mix of textures on the sequins; one side is velvet and the other is shiny plastic. This made it look so special and expensive, and I think it’s the prefect little black dress to wear for the holidays. Also to save yourself from the cold weather wear some knee high socks, you won’t be cold and it’ll look hot. Oh and also Beyoncé wore this dress one time, so yeah it’s cool.
XOXO and Happy Holidays,
I have really been feeling comfort over fashion this past week. It’s been raining almost every day, and it even sort of, kind of snowed (it was more hail than snow, but it was really weird for sunny Los Angeles, where the weather is almost always warm). I am also always very cold, I’m basically an icicle even in warm climates. I love cozy outfits that keep you looking comfortable yet chic and I felt this outfit accomplished that. The cozy knitted jacket is really warm yet still slimming, as are the pants. I wore big knitted socks because we shot at home, but I think this outfit would go great with some knitted boots. I think this look needs a plain t-shirt to tie it together, the simplicity makes everything look a lot more effortless and cool. The pants are from Zara and the jacket is from Oasis. (oh also I’m skipping my inspirational Wednesday post this week, but you can expect one next week)
I am so overjoyed that I am finally done with this semester of school. It was a little unfortunate that all my finals fell on the same day (well Monday night and all of Tuesday), however I had a pretty good time celebrating the successful completion of finals. One of my friends said that she had extra tickets to a concert and it turned out that another friend was actually performing at the same venue, so we had a pretty good time there. Then we ran into some more awesome people we knew in Hollywood and ended the night watching the Victoria’s Secret fashion show together. So all in all, great way to end the semester, now I have a whole month to myself to focus on anything other than school. Here are some awesome inspirations to get you all in this happy, celebratory, “open to new opportunities” state.
How perfect is this for a holiday outfit. I really loved these pieces I got from the Altuzarra for target collection. I think they are so cute and ideal for this holiday season. It might be a little short with the shorts, so maybe don’t wear this outfit with short shorts to like a huge family dinner, but to go out with friends around this Christmas time, it’s the perfect outfit. It’s like a really attractive “ugly Christmas sweater”, and the boots are also my favorite. I love how they’re the perfect heel height, and they look super elegant but still kind of sexy. This was only at target stores the morning of the launch so it not in stores anymore but I found some listings and linked them bellow. And now onto my weekly, random, off topic, inspirational paragraph.
I feel like I’ve been nerdy for most of my life. My favorite subject in school had always been math, I really really love computers, and I chose to stay home and learn some geeky new computer thing instead of going out quite a few of times in my life. So when college time came around computer science was an obvious choice for a little nerd like me (not right away actually, it took about two years to finally figure out where I wanted to go in life). I’m the kind of person who gets comfort from the fact that 2+2=4 and that it cannot equal 5 or 6 or yellow, it’s always reliable. Maybe that’s not the best way to bee though. This semester I ventured out into the art classes, just to see what I can discover about myself. I am not a super artsy person, I love fashion, and I do website and graphic design, but that’s about it (I also do sculpture, but not many people know that). However after a few moths giving into my creative side, I’ve become a way more innovative person, and my artistic side is a lot more confident. So the point of this was to say that if you have a major or a direction in life that you want to go in, it’s a good idea to go off road, to venture outside your comfort zone, you will not only improve in that area, but you will learn something about yourself an become a more well rounded individual.
When I started making this post I was nowhere near the holiday mood, however a couple of hours on tumblr and one Home Alone movie later, I’m feeling pretty festive. So I thought why not put all of you, my beautiful readers, into that holiday spirit. Here are some festive things that I found on the internets that will hopefully have you feeling like it already Christmas.
Also I’m hoping to make “Hump Day Happy” a regular feature on this blog. These posts are going to be filled with inspirational pictures, music, movies, books, outfits and whatever else I feel can inspire you that week. I thought seven was the perfect number of songs to add because you can set a new song for your alarm each morning and never get sick of any one of them. Anyways hope you enjoy these December inspirations.
